Celebration of the publication of PEDRO AND THE CAPTAIN, Adrianne Aron’s translation of Mario Benedetti’s play about a torturer and his victim.

7:30 Homage to Benedetti, who died last week, just before the release of this translation, which he read and enjoyed. Sadly, he did not live to see the beautiful book produced by Cadmus Editions.

7:45 Dramatic reading of excerpts of the play by actors Mark McGoldrick and Youseef Elias.

8:30 Comments by representatives of the San Francisco 8 and the Haiti Action Committee, and by other members of the audience, regarding political prisoners, forced confessions, torture, and other themes of the play.
